Learning Pole at Home or Online: Do You Need Your Own Pole?
You can start pole without your own pole, because a studio class provides one. Learning from videos at home is possible, but a pole is a physical skill, and having an instructor see your form is the easier way to begin.
This post explains the options: a studio class, an online 1:1 class and practising on your own. To try the studio first, join our free Saturday group class (2:00 to 3:00 PM, 60 minutes, up to 4 people, with a refundable 1,500 INR deposit). A refundable 1,500 INR deposit is paid when you book your spot and refunded after you attend the full class in person.

Can you learn pole at home?
You can try, but there are limits. A video cannot see how you hold the pole or tell you when something looks off. Tired hands and shoulders are normal early on, and sharp pain is not, as our safety guide for beginners explains. If you are unsure, start with a class.
Do you need your own pole to start?
No. For a class at our Narsingi studio, you do not need to buy anything. Our first class guide covers what to bring. You only need your own pole for an online class.
How does the Online 1:1 class work?
It is a 75 minute class with one instructor over video, priced at 1,700 INR, and the student needs a pole of their own. If you would like to know more before booking, ask us about the setup first. See the 1:1 class page and the plans page for details.
Should you buy a pole before trying a class?
We suggest trying a class first. A pole is a purchase, and a class helps you decide whether pole is for you before you spend money. If you decide to get one later, talk to your instructor before you buy or set it up.

What is the simplest path from here?
Try the free Saturday group class (2:00 to 3:00 PM) to feel the pole in person.
Choose a weekly rhythm, as our post on how many classes a week suit a beginner suggests.
